Siasia confirms Osimhen for final

12 December 2015, 11:36

Lagos – The 2015 FIFA U17 World Cup top scorer Victor Osimhen will play some part in today's CAF U23 Africa Cup of Nations final against Algeria, so says Nigeria U23 coach, Samson Siasia.

The 17-year old lanky striker has only made a couple of cameo appearances in the competition after his surprise inclusion, but Siasia says he will play some part in today's final against the Algerians.

"I know he's going to play but I don't know if he's going to start," Siasia said ahead of the game.

"He's done well in training and has put in his best in the few minutes he has played so I believe he'll play in the final but I just don't know if he will start," added Siasia.

The Dream Team VI, as the Nigerians are called, will play their Algerian counterparts for the second time in the competition, this time in the final, having played each other in their last group game.

Both teams have already qualified to the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro in Brazil, with the winner of the third place game between South Africa and Senegal getting the last slot.
