The essence of the inspection as stated in the press statement signed by the Special Adviser to the minister on media Nneka Ikem Anibeze, is to have a firsthand assessment of the condition of the facilities.

The minister said there was need to bring back to life, the National Stadium Surulere, which used to be the pride of the nation.

Past ministers of Sports have inspected the National Stadium in Lagos and across the country with no positive change. The main bowl of the Lagos National Stadium last hosted a major tournament over a decade ago, with most of its facilities now dilapidated.
