Sunshine Queens bag Outstanding Achievement Award

Lagos - Nigeria Women Premier League side, Sunshine Queens Football Club of Ondo State has won the Outstanding Achievement of the Year Award.

The award, organised by Trace Magazine, is aimed at recognising excellence in Ondo State and Nigeria in general.

Sunshine Queens won the 2015 Nigeria Women's Federation Cup for the first since the creation of the state 39 years ago by defeating Bayelsa Queens 3-1 on penalties in the final in Lagos.

Team Manager, Sunday Erelesusi dedicated the award to God and the state Governor, Olusegun Mimiko for his total support and investment on sports, especially football which brought glory and honour through Sunshine Queens.

“This is a lovely moment and we will like to dedicate this to God, Mr. Governor and the ODSFA Chairman, Akin Akinbobola.

“Without the support and motivation from the government, the girls would have not won the Federation Cup in Lagos. Also want to thank the organisers for recognising us, may God bless your organization.”

He said the award will also help the team prepare harder and do well next season.
