Sunshine Queens targets five new faces

23 December 2015, 18:00

Abuja - Sunshine Queens are already planning ahead for next season, and team manager Sunday Erelesusi has disclosed that the technical crew will reinforce the squad with five new players.

The Akure outfit claimed the Federation Cup with a 3-1 penalty shootouts win over Bayelsa Queens, after the game ended 1-1 at the regulation time.

But having missed out on NWPL glory, the Sunshine Queens TM wants to see the Kayode Olujohungbe tutored side achieve more. To manage that, he feels they need a couple of talented players.

“If everyone remains in place, we'll need five additional players to reinforce the squad,” he told News24.

Though the former Rising Stars coach was tight-lipped as to the identity of such players, though reports suggest that the team needs one defender, two midfielders and two attackers.

The experienced coach dropped another hint about the make-up of Kayode Olujojungbe's transfer wish list, stating: “Our focus is on youth. The loss of the league wasn't too good for us after doing so well in the regular season, but our policy will not change.”

Kenyan international Neddy Atieno remains in talks with the club after she impressed on trial. The deal might crash due to the asking price of her representatives according to a top official of Sunshine Queens.
