Sunshine Stars unveils Samson Unuanel as head coach

Lagos - Sunshine Stars on Monday unveiled their new head coach, Samson Unuanel at the cub's secretariat in Akure.

The former Ocean Boys coach arrived on Monday from his base in Oshogbo and will be in charge of the Akure-based club in the 2015/16 Nigeria Professional Football League season.

Addressing the dignitaries that included Ondo State Football Agency (ODSFA) at the unveiling ceremony newly appointed coach, Samson Unuanel stated that he was impressed with the structure he met on ground in Akure.

“I came here and was marvelled. I want to say this is the best club in Nigeria. I was trained in Europe and know the standard,” Unuanel said.

“It's an honour to be in your midst. I'm a man that wants more. I'm promising you that with your support, come this time next year we will celebrate with trophy. The Bible makes me believe that your talent will work for you. With the help of God we will be successful.”

Chairman of ODSFA, Akin Akinbobola hailed the qualities of coach Unuanel in his remarks.

“What we are doing is a progression in our developmental plan,” the highly respected administrator stated.

“Coach Samson falls into the category of coaches that matches our ambition. Somebody who has achieved a lot in the game is whom we went for.

“We want to challenge for honours in the league and qualify for the continent. We want to be the best in Africa and went for the best in the game. I believe he is the right man for the job,” Akinbobola added.
