Pretoria - Nigeria’s Super Eagles on Monday defeated their Ivorian
counterparts 1-0 in a friendly game played at the Tuks University Stadium in
Pretoria, South Africa.
Nigeria scored the only goal just before half-time through Ifeanyi
Mathew, as the second half could not produce more goals, despite the changes.
The tie, coming five days after a 1-1 draw with Angola, was
a warm-up game ahead of the 2016 CHAN which kicks off on Saturday in Rwanda.
The Super Eagles delegation will fly into Rwanda on Friday,
three days before the team trade tackles with Niger Republic in their first
match of the tournament, at the astro-turf Stade Regional Nyamirambo on the
outskirts of Kigali.

Nigeria’s hopefuls, to be captained by left –back Chima Akas
in the absence of forward Gbolahan Salami, will also play Tunisia and Guinea in
Group C, with the match against the Guineans scheduled for the city of Rubavu.
