Uyo - Super Eagles Technical Adviser Gernot Rohr has accused
Chelsea manager Antonio Conte of punishing midfielder John Obi Mikel for
playing for Nigeria at the 2016 Rio Olympics.
Mikel captained the Nigerian men’s football team to bronze,
the only medal the West African nation won at the Games in August.
On return to Stamford Bridge, Mikel has ever since warm the
bench, as Conte has left him out of his squad in all competition.
When asked why including Mikel in Nigeria’s team for the 2018
World Cup qualifier, Rohr said the players is being punished for attending the
Olympics for his country as he is doing great in training.

"He is being punished for deciding to go to the
Olympics for Nigeria."
"He is training well and doing well for us. I cannot
punish him for deciding to make a sacrifice for Nigeria." The
Franco-German Coach told journalists in Uyo.
Nigeria will host Algeria in a 2018 World Cup qualifier in
Uyo on Saturday, a game Mikel will be the captain.
that tickets for Saturday’s World Cup qualifying match between Nigeria and
Algeria at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium, Uyo will go for the sums
of N1000 and N500 for covered seats and popular side respectively.
