Tom Adeyemi relishing new role for Leeds United

07 December 2015, 13:06

London - Tom Adeyemi was pleased with his performance in Leeds United's 2-1 win against Hull City in the latest round of matches played in the Championship and has opined that he flourished because he was played in an offensive position.

On his return to the starting XI for the first time since October 29, the Cardiff City loanee repaid manager Steve Evans's faith by scoring on the stroke of half time to give Leeds United a 2-0 lead.

''I certainly enjoyed the role that I played, playing slightly further forward than I have done in the past,'' Adeyemi said on Leeds United official webpage.

''I think it helped me having Liam Bridcutt behind me and in front of the back four. It gave me the licence to push on.''

The number 24 added: ''I was able to break into the box on a few occasions and get my goal as well, so it was a good day.

''Some people see my size and my build and think that I’m just going to be winning tackles and playing in front of the back four, but I like to think I can do the box-to-box role as well.''

Adeyemi opened his goalscoring account for Leeds United against Derby County in August and Saturday's goal at Elland Road was his second for the club.
