We’ll create a major upset against Super Eagles – Zambia’s Kalaba

07 September 2016, 13:20

Lusaka - Captain of Zambia senior national football team Rainford Kalaba is confident his side will cause a major upset against Nigeria and other opponents in the 2018 World Cup qualifiers.

The Chipolopolo will host the Super Eagles on October 3 as the road to Russia 2018 begins.

With Cameroon and Algeria also in the group, Kalaba admits it going to be difficult, but was quick to add that it is achievable.

"It's a difficult group no doubt but nothing is impossible in football," Kalaba told the Zambia Daily Mail.

"Nigeria, Algeria and Cameroon have quality players in their squad but we must not allow ourselves to be intimidated by them.

"If we put in our best, I'm sure we will create a major upset in the group. It's not something that is going to be easy but it is achievable."

News24 had reported that Super Eagles Technical Adviser Gernot Rohr reiterated that Nigeria will need all her best players to play at their premium in order to pick the lone ticket from their 2018 FIFA World Cup qualification group.
