West Ham’s Lanzini risks six-week absence

08 December 2015, 18:02

London - West Ham United face being without on-loan attacking midfielder Manuel Lanzini for six weeks due to a thigh injury, the club revealed on Tuesday.

"West Ham United can confirm that Manuel Lanzini could be ruled out for up to six weeks with a quadriceps injury," the Premier League club said on their website.

"Lanzini underwent a scan on Monday and will now begin a period of rehabilitation, which is expected to keep him out of first-team action for a period of up to six weeks."

Lanzini, 22, joined West Ham on a season-long loan from Emirati side Al-Jazira in July and has scored four goals in his 12 league appearances to date.

The Argentine's absence is the latest injury blow for West Ham manager Slaven Bilic, who is already without playmaker Dimitri Payet (ankle) and strikers Diafra Sakho (thigh) and Enner Valencia (ankle).

Winger Victor Moses, meanwhile, is awaiting the results of a scan on a hamstring problem.
