Abuja - The Nigeria Football Association (NFA) on
Wednesday in Abuja said eight teams were being expected at the 2013 CBN
Beach Soccer Challenge Cup which begins on Friday, Sept. 20.
A statement by NFA’s Media Officer, Ademola Olajire, listed the teams
to include Fidelity Bank Strikers, Team Kaduna and Kogi Confluence
"The others are Aso Savings and Loans FC, Sterling Bank FC, Nasarawa
Beach Soccer FC, Team FCT and Anambra Beach Soccer FC," it said.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that all the matches in the
three-day competition will hold at the Beach Soccer Pitch at Accra
Street, Zone 5 in Abuja.
The statement quoted Taye Olajide of Sports Solutions, who are the
competition’s organisers, as saying a number of matches had been
scheduled for the competition’s opening day.
"The Fidelity team will clash with Team Kaduna while Aso Savings will lock horns with Kogi Confluence.
"Team FCT will also tackle Anambra FC, while Sterling Bank to clash
with the Nasarawa team, with all matches starting at 2pm," it said.
The classification and semi-final matches will hold on Saturday, with
the classification finals and the tournament final holding on Sunday.
The statement said NFA was hoping to use the competition as a
preparatory process for the launching of the National Beach Soccer
League very soon.
