London - France on Monday beat Nigeria’s men’s basketball team, D’Tigers, in the Group A final preliminary game of the London 2012 Olympics.
After a spirited fight, Nigeria succumbed to France, confirming Black Africa’s largest nation’s early exit from the basketball tournament.
The final result was France 79 Nigeria 73.
Although it stood at 44 – 44 at a point during Monday’s contest, France created a gulf of 41 – 36 by the end of the third quarter.
Before the game with France, Nigeria had crashed out of the basketball ball tournament along with African champions, Tunisia.
Nigeria lost to Lithuania and the United States.
