Abuja – President Goodluck Jonathan will be honouring the team who won the 4x400m gold medal at the 2000 Sydney Olympic Games, ThisDay reports.
Four of the five athletes have travelled to the capital to meet with Jonathan. The fifth, Sunday Bada, passed away in December 2011 and will be represented by his wife, Olasumbo Bada.
Jude Monye travelled from the United States, Clement Chukwi, Nduka Awazie and Fidelis Gadzama from the United Kingdom while Enefiok Udo-Obong is based in Lagos.
It was the first time the team reunited in almost 13 years, since Nigeria won the silver medal in the Olympic Games. They have since been awarded the gold medal after the USA team had been disqualified due to the doping infringement of teammate Antonio Pettigrew.
