Gov. Dickson backs wrestling team

14 July 2014, 11:21

Yenogoa - Bayelsa State Governor Henry Seriake Dickson has encouraged members of the Nigerian Wrestling team who will compete at the upcoming Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, Scotland to bring back the medals.

Dickson made the call when a delegation of the Nigeria Wrestling Federation led by its president, Daniel Igali paid him a courtesy visit at the Bayelsa House in Abuja.

The Bayelsa state Governor, who expressed high hopes on the team's ability to make the Country proud at the games, noted with delight, the domineering role of Bayelsa, whose wrestlers have always brought honour to the country at major international events.

While charging them to be dedicated, patriotic and disciplined at the games, Governor Dickson reminded the wrestlers of the deep rooted love and interest Bayelsans, including himself, who is a one time champion has for the sport and remains an avid fan.

Dickson also encouraged the team to highlight the interest the state and its people has for the sport.

He added that government is making arrangements to send a high powered delegation, which he would personally lead to support the Nigerian Wrestling Team at the games.
