Lagos - The Nigeria Judo Federation (NJF) says it expects to
hold the maiden Judo President National Open Senior and Junior Championships
from August 6 - 8 in Benin, Edo State.
NJF Secretary-General, Amaechi Akawo, said the championships
will serve as a gauge of the country's talent ahead of the 2016 Olympic Games

scholarship programme with an eye towards Rio based on their performance at the
“It is also aimed at selecting the Nigeria junior and senior
teams for the forthcoming world championships,” added Akawo.
The championships will be open to all states, though only
athletes with a valid licence from the NJF and who have registered for the
event would be considered.
Entries for the events will close on July 30, and winners
will be rewarded with trophies and cash prizes.
