Kwara governor nominated for baseball association presidency

05 November 2013, 16:09

Ilorin - Governor Abdulfatah Ahmed of Kwara has been nominated to run for the Presidency of the Nigeria Baseball and Softball Association (NBSA).

Femi Abolarin, the Development Officer of two Ilorin-based Baseball and Softball clubs, said that the clubs nominated the governor for the position.

According to Abolarin, the Kwara Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Sports and Youth Development, Rhoda Ajiboye, and another staff of the ministry, Mariam Ishola, have also been nominated to vie for the NBSA board membership.

Abolarin, an official of the Kwara Double 'T' Little League Baseball and Softball and Akintola Hitters, explained that the nominations were made after due appraisal of the contributions of these personalities.

He said that the nominated personalities had been supporting the development of sports.

Retired Maj.-Gen. Ishola Williams, currently based in the U.S, doubles as the president of the NBSA and the African Baseball and Softball Association.

The ABSA Congress will hold in Ghana in January 2014 while that of the NBSA would hold at a yet-to-be announced date.
