Lagos - The Nigeria Tennis Federation (NTF) has named the five players who will represent the nation at the Davis Cup.
The team features two surprise inclusions in Sylvester Emmanuel and Umaru Balami. Gloria Ekwempu, secretary of the NTF, told the National Mirror that young, promising players have been given preference.
“We also plan to give relatively younger players the exposure required at the highest level to ensure that they get better within a short period of time,” she said.

“Emmanuel and Balami have been particularly impressive in recent years and deserve this invitation. They earned the call up to the tournament.”
The rest of the team members are Clifford Enosoregbe, Henry Atseye and Benson Ishicheli, who will be the team’s non-playing captain and coach.
The Davis Cup will be held in Cairo, Egypt from September 8 to14.
