Lagos – After an encouraging finish at the
just-ended Paris Marathon, Philibus Sharubutu is targeting more success in the
The Nigerian was among the highest finishers in the
marathon run in the French capital city on Sunday.
Sharubutu, who clocked 2 hours 32 seconds, some 25
minutes behind the eventual winner, Cyprian Kotut of Kenya, expressed gratitude
to his sponsor, Schneider Electric, the opportunity to participate in his first
international marathon race.
“Finishing in the top 40 out of 50 000 marathoners who participated
in the race is enough motivation to aspire higher,” said the runner.
He said he would not rest on his laurels.
“I will continue to train harder in order to contend with
the best in the world in future competitions,” he said.
Schneider Electric, coincidentally one of the sponsors of
the Paris Marathon, is reveling at the success of the star athlete it sponsored
after his stellar performance in the recently held Lagos City Marathon.
“As a sponsor, Schneider Electric is excited by the
performance of Philibus who donned the Nigerian colours at the race,” said Anne

She maintained confidence the runner had gained valuable
