Sapele: Blessing Okagbare did not take part in the long jump
trials at the Rio Olympics trials in Sapele.
Okagbare, who won the 100m race during Day 1 action of the
trials on Thursday, also won the 200m on Friday.
She however skipped the long jump event owing to knee
“I don’t want to hurt my knee the more, so I will not take
part in the long jump trial, but I will compete in long jump at the Rio
Olympics.” She said.

Okagbare is an Olympic and World Championships medalist in
the long jump, and a world medallist in the 200m. She also holds the Women's
100m Commonwealth Games record for the fastest time at 10.85 seconds. Her 100 m
best of 10.79 makes her the African record holder for the event.
She was the African 100 m and long jump champion in 2010.
She has also won medals at the All-Africa Games and the IAAF Continental Cup.
News24 report that Okagbare on Thursday claimed her 7th All Nigeria 100m title as she won the Women’s 100m event with a time of 11.02secs in Day One of action at the ongoing All-Nigeria Championships in Sapele,
