Abuja - An 18-year-old Indian girl from Jharkhand married a stray dog under the command of her father who said she needed to ward off evil spirits from her life, the DailyMail reports.
A local guru informed Mangli Munda's parents that their daughter would suffer bad luck in her life, this prompted the family to hastily organise a traditional marriage ceremony.
The dog was found by the brides father and driven to the wedding on his father-in-laws lap.
Munda does not have a formal education and expressed her dismay at having to wed the canine, but ultimately succumbed to the wishes of her parents and the guru. Munda's bad luck would stretch to her community as well, but the village elders believed that once she married the dog, the evil spirits would be passed onto the four-legged animal.
The dog will be kept and cared for by the bride for a few months. This marriage will not affect her future endeavours and Munda will be free to marry the man of her dreams.
