Beijing - Five schoolgirls have been killed and two others injured after a school wall collapses during a basketball game in eastern China, local officials say.
The Anhui provincial work safety bureau says the incident happened on Monday afternoon in a middle school in Huaibei city after the teams surrounded a player with a sprained ankle. A wall at the side of the court then collapsed.
The Huaibei city government said in an online statement that police were investigating the cause of the incident and were questioning school officials.

It said on Tuesday that one of the injured was in a stable condition and the other received minor injuries.
News reports carried photos of five bodies spread out on the basketball court.
