Lilienthal, a nature lover, was swimming in the Wekiva River which is in Orlando, Florida, when she was attacked by the reptile. The river does have warning signs about the alligators but there was about 150 people in the water. Lilienthal, however, swam about 100 yards away from everyone else.Witnesses said they heard her screaming and saw the jaws of the alligator close in on her arm and the alligator drag her underwater. Luckily there were people in canoes nearby and one man used his paddle to fight off the alligator and save Lilienthal’s life.
