New York - Two producers for the news channel CNN were arrested in New York for trying to sneak into One World Trade Centre while working on a story about recent security breaches at the site, The New York Times reported on Wednesday.
The two men, who were caught trying to trespass on Tuesday afternoon carrying video equipment, explained to a police officer that "if a 16-year-old could get on the site, they should also be able to get in", Joseph Pentangelo, a spokesperson for the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey told The New York Times.
The arrest of the journalists comes after a 16-year-old boy from New Jersey sneaked into the building on Sunday night dressed as a construction worker and took pictures from the top of the tower, which is still under construction.
On Monday, four men were also arrested after jumping by parachute from the top of the building in September 2013.
The men were charged with burglary and reckless endangerment.
The security breaches have raised concerns as the tower, which is the tallest structure in the US at 541m, is set to be opened this year.
