Delhi gang-rape verdict postponed
25 July 2013, 10:08
New Delhi — An Indian juvenile court has delayed delivering its verdict until 5 August in a fatal gang rape of a young woman last December.
Defence lawyer Rajesh Tiwari told reporters outside the court on Thursday that the verdict was delayed because of a Supreme Court case seeking to change the legal definition of a juvenile.
The court had said it would deliver its verdict on Thursday. It was to have been the first verdict in the attack.
This was the second postponement after a verdict had been expected on 11 July, but was deferred until Thursday.
