Abuja - The Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) has welcomed the complete signing of the recent peace and reconciliation accord in Mali.
The regional body, in a statement issued in Abuja, commended all parties involved for their resolve and commitment to the agreement.
The regional bloc also thanks the Algerian government and the international community for their support.

“ECOWAS commends all parties involved for their resolve and commitment which culminated in this positive and encouraging development. We wish to thank the Algerian government in particular and the international community as a whole for their support through the entire peace process,” the statement read.
The regional body also congratulated the Malian people for this effort towards sustainable peace.
“We congratulate the Malian people for this significant step towards sustainable peace. We urge all signatories to the accord to ensure strict adherence to its provisions” the statement said.
