Moscow - A Russian man who was wrongly declared dead and placed in a morgue passed away two days later, likely because he froze to death in the ice-cold facility, prosecutors said on Friday.
The tragic mix-up came to light when grave-diggers noticed the man's eyelid flicker shortly before the scheduled burial.
A short time later the man did actually pass away.
A neighbour had found the 57-year-old man lying motionless in his house and called medics, who declared him deceased and sent him to the morgue.
Authorities suspended two doctors from service over the incident, said prosecutors in Pskow, about 700km northwest of Moscow.
An investigation continued.
