Miami - Authorities say a retired police officer has been
charged with fatally shooting a man during an argument over cellphone use at a
Florida movie theatre.
Sheriff's spokesperson Melanie Snow said that two couples
had been watching Lone Survivor at a movie theatre north of Tampa
on Monday when the suspect and his wife apparently took issue with the couple
in front of them over use of the phone.
Curtis Reeves, 71, asked Chad Oulson, 43, to stop texting.
An argument led to the shooting.
Oulson and his wife, Nichole, were taken to a local hospital
where he later died. His wife's injuries weren't considered life-threatening.
The sheriff's office says an off-duty deputy detained Reeves
until police arrived.
Reeves has been charged with second-degree murder. It wasn't
immediately clear if he had an attorney.
