Man steals woman’s BlackBerry on first date

05 September 2013, 19:02

London - A man in London ruined his chances of getting a second date after he stole his date’s mobile phone after having had to pay for their first.

Kishore Nimmala (32) spent £54 (N13 772) on two rounds of drinks at a bar in London’s Leicester Square, the Mirror reports.

Annoyed at his date Fakhara Sultana’s unwillingness to split the bill with him, Nimmala followed her out of the bar, grabbed her BlackBerry and ran off with it.

“Ms Sultana screamed and ran after him. Two passing policemen joined the chase and eventually caught him,” the prosecutor at the Southwark crown court said.

Nimmala allegedly threw the phone away during the chase and claims he took it thinking it would convince his date to reimburse him for the pricey date.

“The issue is, did he intend to permanently deprive her of her phone,” the prosecutor considered.
