Pastor wants weaves banned from church

21 August 2013, 12:45

Abuja - Women might soon have to dust off long-forgotten church hats to hide bad hair days after a US pastor spoke out against weaves in church.

Pastor A.J. Aamir of the Resurrecting Faith church in Waco, Texas feels women who wear weaves are being financially irresponsible and untrue to themselves, according to AmericanPreacher.com.

“Our black women are getting weaves trying to be something and someone they are not. Be real with yourself is all I'm saying,” Aamir said.

“I don't want my members so focused on what's on their heads and not in their heads. I lead a church where our members are struggling financially. Yet, a 26-year-old mother in my church has a $300 weave on her head.”

Although Aamir’s sentiments may cause a frizz among the congregation, he has no legal right to enforce it.
