Customer denied burger because she’s a woman

11 May 2016, 07:42

Melbourne - A woman was denied a two for one offer when she went to Grill’d a popular burger joint in Melbourne Australia, simply on the basis that she’s female.

According to News.com.au, The two for one burger offer was available for anyone who brought along a friend with them and said the words “May Eight” when ordering.

The woman named Melanie said, “I ordered at the counter and asked if I could use the “May Eight” Offer. Although the waitress was very pleasant she said as it was for men’s health it was only available for men and although I was eating with a man the offer was not available to me”.

Melanie felt disappointed that she wasn’t able to contribute, as she would have liked to support a great cause.

A spokeswoman for the Movember Foundation said it was a misunderstanding and the offer was open to women as well.

According to the campaign brief Cummins& Partners Sydney created May Eight! A new men’s health initiative for the Movember Foundation. May Eight took place on May 8, with the aim to improve the social networks of Australian men.
