Give president Lungu anouther term - aide

11 January 2016, 13:13

Lusaka - A Zambian government aide has reportedly hailed President Edgar Lungu, saying he is capable of taking the southern African country to another level if given another five year term to finish projects he started, a report said on Monday.

According to Daily Mail, North Western province minister Dawson Kafwaya believes that Lungu is the right man to take the country forward.

"In terms of development I can assure that His Excellency President, Mr Edgar Chagwa Lungu, who is running this government, is capable of taking this nation forward. It’s not okay that when certain projects are still moving, then we cut those projects because of partisan politics. It’s not possible,” he was quoted saying.

Lungu came into power after defeating opposition leader and businessman Hakainde Hichilema in a closely contested election following the death of President Michael Sata in October 2014.

The Southern African country is set to hold elections on August 11.

President Lunga recently indicated he was confident that Zambians were firmly behind him. The incumbent said he expected to secure at least 71% of the ballot in August, according to Aljazeera.
