Abuja - A man has been left with a weeping 3 centimeter hole in his leg following a bite from a false widow spider, the UK Mirror has reported.
When Richard Stevens woke with an insect bite on his leg in December of last year, he thought nothing of it until he began to experience swelling and pain the area.
In the coming days the wound would fester, causing him to seek medical advice.
To his surprise, Richard discovered that he would need surgery to remove the infection that had set in as a result of the bite.
Richard was forced to undergo a three-hour long operation, resulting in a long ribbon gauze having to be pulled from the hole and repacked in order to encourage new flesh growth on the inside of the wound.
