Man's wife and mistress place obituaries in same newspaper

09 August 2016, 21:58

Abuja - A US man has been mourned by both his wife and mistress in two almost identical obituaries published in the same newspaper.

According to a report by the UK Mirror, Leroy Bill Black, a New Jersey resident, died in his home on August 2 after fighting a long battle with lung cancer.

While the first obituary claims that Black is survived by his "loving wife", the other states that he leaves behind his "long-time girlfriend".

Even more awkward, however, is the fact that the second obituary makes no mention of the deceased's wife, making readers uncertain as to whether or not the man's mistress actually knew she was a side chick.

A spokesperson for the funeral home that was taking care of Black's funeral arrangements claimed to have published both obituaries due to the parties wanting theirs published in a particular way.

Further inspection into the matter has revealed that the two women did have knowledge of each other, and therefore were not shocked at the inclusion of both obituaries in the newspaper.
