Dar es Salaam - In an effort to cut costs, Tanzanian President John Magufuli has announced a lean Cabinet of 19 ministers, local newspaper The Citizen has reported.
Having been described as East Africa's leanest, Magufuli's Cabinet consists of 11 less ministers than the previous term, with 15 deputy ministers holding the forte.
Although Magufuli still has posts to fill in four key ministries, he has stated that he is still on the look-out for suitable candidates to fill the positions.
In the newest addition to his cost-cutting measures, Magufuli has also ordered that there be no induction retreat held for the new officials, adding that they should be aware of their core mandate to serve the people of Tanzania.
In light of an induction retreat not taking place this year, Magufuli will save the country approximately Sh2 billion, Daily Nation reports.
Magufuli has largely been praised since the announcement of his Cabinet, with many people taking to social media to exhibit their approval.
