London - A British court sentenced a 25-year-old woman to eight years in prison on Thursday after convicting her on three counts of sexual assault against a friend she seduced by pretending to be a man.
Gayle Newland had developed an online relationship with the unnamed victim by setting up a fake identity as a young man called Kye on Facebook, prosecutors told Chester Crown Court.
Newland, who knew the victim prior to their Facebook exchanges, later met her several times while dressed as Kye.

Newland strapped her chest, deepened her voice and blindfolded the other woman while she wore a prosthetic penis to have sex with her.
The friends had sex on about 10 occasions before the victim became suspicious and took off her blindfold, ending the relationship and later reporting Newland to police.
Newland claimed to the police that the other woman knew her gender and that their encounters were part of sexual role-playing.
But the sentencing judge disagreed, calling Newland "an intelligent, obsessional, highly manipulative, deceitful, scheming and thoroughly determined young woman".
