Harare - A Zimbabwean man has appeared in court for allegedly burning his wife’s private parts after she allegedly had an affair with his brother, a report said on Friday.
According to New Zimbabwe, Morgan Kombani, 37, would be facing a domestic violence charge, which carries a maximum sentence of at least ten years in jail.
The court heard that, on March 15, Kombani burned his wife’s private parts with a log on fire.
After burning his wife’s private parts, Kombani allegedly killed two of his brother’s beast as a form of punishment for having an affair with his wife Moline Mwanza.
Kombani was discovered by his brother Michael Kazomba’s wife, as a result, she notified her husband about what had happened.
The matter was then reported to the police leading to Kombani’s arrest.
According to United Nations Refugee Agency report domestic violence is an issue of ongoing concern in Zimbabwe.
In a 2007 survey by Zimbabwe's Central Statistical Office (CSO) and Macro International Inc, a marketing and research company based in the United States (US), about 4,658 married or previously married Zimbabwean women between the ages of 15 and 49 years have experienced a form of physical, sexual or emotional violence by their husband or partners.
